Our son was behind on his reading compared to his peers, having spent a lot of his second school year sick or in lockdown. The one-on-one that Reading Recovery provided gave him an extra bit of focus that hooked him in and gave a structure for us to show him at home that we love reading with him and that reading together is fun. His progress was exponential- just a couple months of effort on all sides and he is now engaged and reading by choice, with the confidence to tackle challenging words by himself and to ask for help when he needs it.
